A Little Austin History
Dinoland has long been a favorite destination for families visiting Austin. Located near the beautiful Zilker Botanical Garden, the area combines outdoor recreation, education, and a little imagination. Children can explore larger-than-life dinosaur displays while learning about prehistoric creatures that once roamed the earth millions of years ago.
The nearby Zilker Botanical Garden has been welcoming visitors since the 1950s and contains several themed gardens, including the Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, and Hartman Prehistoric Garden. The prehistoric section is especially fitting next to Dinoland, as it features plants similar to those that existed during the age of the dinosaurs.
One of the things I enjoy most about this area is that it encourages families to get outdoors. Instead of spending the day indoors, children can walk the trails, observe nature, and imagine what Texas might have looked like long before people settled here.
Whether you're interested in gardening, photography, local history, or simply looking for a peaceful afternoon walk, the botanical gardens and Dinoland make a fun and affordable outing for families visiting Austin.

How fun!!!
Molly.
I could tell it was cool.. PJ had a jacket on :)
When we come visit you again, put those two places on the list to take us to see.
BTW was those real pumpkins on the ground?
Dinoland is on tour and leaves Austin at the end of the month. I found out about it when we went to the botanical gardens 2 weeks ago.
When you come down again, I want to take you to the Riverwalk in San Antonio and do the boat cruise on the canals, and also to see the bats under the Congress bridge. Maybe we can talk Richard, Jo and Patty to come down too.
So make those reservations! =)
Oh, yes, real pumpkins. I thought they looked out of place though. They've been running some festivals and setting up vendors there, but I guess Pam and I arrived on a quiet day.
Man, you get to do too much! Send some of that fun my way!!!!!
